Day 2 North West (30th April)

  1. Pickup at hotel in Machico at 08:00
  2. 25 Fontes
Starting from Rabaçal, the trail winds its way through a magical forest to the famous 25 Fontes (25 Waterfalls) lagoon. Along the way, you'll be treated to breathtaking views and the soothing sound of water falling from every direction. The walk is approximately 4.6 kilometres (8.6 kilometres return), making it a moderate hike that rewards you with breathtaking views at every turn.
  3. A leisurely walk in Fanal forest which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999.
  4. Porto Moniz - The main attraction are the unique lava pools filled with salty, warm sea water for safe bathing in an epic setting. These pools are formed from volcanic rock that has been naturally eroded by the sea. The water in the pools is very clear and is regularly refreshed by the tides.
  5. Suggested launch at Restaurante Cachalote in Porto Moniz
  6. Seixal Beach, also known as the Hawaii of Europe, it is a stunning natural gem with beautiful volcanic sand beach, clear waters and astonishing cliffs. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery and the dark volcanic pebbles contrast beautifully with the crystal-clear waters.
  7. Seixal Pools

  1. Pickup at hotel in Machico at 06:20
  2. Sunrise at Pico do Areeiro at 07:22
Dawn at Pico do Arieiro is a magical moment where you float above a sea of clouds. Standing at 1,818 meters, this mountaintop transforms into nature's theater as golden light breaks through the first rays of light.
  3. Caminho Florestal das Serras de Setor Antonio - a road in the central of the island renowned for its unique and diverse flora and vegetation, offering a rich experience of the wild and scenic heart of Madeira.
  4. Viewpoint Paredão - overlooking breathtaking views towards Pico Grande, the 6th highest peak of Madeira and Nun's Valley, only this one is less touristy and, in my opinion, even more beautiful.
  5. Quick visit at Curral das Freiras (Nun's Valley) - a village surrounded by the mountain peaks; one of the few places on the island that it is not visible from the sea.

True to its name (Sun's Point), Ponta do Sol is officially Madeira's sunniest spot. Founded in 1425, it takes its name from the way the sunlight reflects off the sea and onto the cliffs - nature's own spotlight show.
