Seixal, Madeira's Touch of Hawaii
Seixal Beach is a stunning natural gem with beautiful volcanic sand beach, clear waters and astonishing cliffs. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery, adding to its mystique. I first visited Seixal Beach 2 years ago, during a packed day trip around the island, when we only had time to take a few photos, so we didn't really get to enjoy it.
I returned a few weeks back, on a Saturday, because I already thought it was an incredible beach. And although it was a cloudy day, the feelings experienced there cannot be described in words…
I really felt why many compare it to ‘Hawaii’. The lush mountains and steep cliffs in the backdrop and the black sand truly makes it epic.

Location: Seixal Beach is situated in the small town of Seixal, on the northern coast of Madeira. It is approximately 50 kilometers from the capital city, Funchal, which is about a 50 minutes drive. The journey provides a scenic ride, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of Madeira.
Beach: What makes Seixal Beach unique is its special geology. It has dark volcanic sand and the tall cliffs around it are telling the story of how Madeira was formed through repeated volcanic eruptions millions of years ago (for more information check "Born from Fire and Sea" in History Bites section).
