Nature Oasis: Achadas da Cruz

A cable car ride to a world where time stands still...

Whether you're looking for peace and relaxation or an adrenaline rush, Achadas da Cruz has something for everyone.
It is one of the steepest cable cars in the world and the steepest in Madeira, located in the extreme northwest of the island.

This cable car transports both local farmers and visitors from 450 m above sea level down a 98% incline to an uninhabited farming village. The experience itself is an exhilarating journey from the rugged coastal cliffs to the picturesque village below.

When you arrive by the sea, prepare to be enchanted by the fairy tale world that unfolds before your eyes... Dramatic landscapes with views of the blue depths of the Atlantic Ocean, contrasting with the green of the mountains, cliffs and forest. As you wander through its narrow paths and terraced gardens, you'll be enchanted by the tranquillity that surrounds you.

The two-way trip (ida e volta in Portuguese) costs €5 and on the way back, passengers must press the green button to return to real life.
